Tiwa Savage, the award-winning Nigerian singer and songwriter, buried her father in magnificent style just a few weeks after he died. She laid her father to rest in a spectacular ceremony that began on Friday, 3rd of September.
The singer’s father died on July 20, 2021, at the age of 81 (1940 – 2021).
She announced the news on her Instagram account, “Early hours of this morning you made a peaceful transition. You fought till the very end, you really fought daddy, it’s been rough for you these past couple of years but you are resting now…
“This is tough on me. I’m so numb, so weak. Rest in perfect peace my King. I love you daddy. Savy t’eko, papping K”. The singer father’s funeral began on Thursday with a Christian wake in Lagos state’s Surulere axis.
Tiwa Savage wore stunning attire, arrived in style in a white luxury Rolls-Royce Wraith Coupe on Friday. Ebony Funeral Home, a well-known funeral home, handled the burial. Tiwa had pledged on Thursday to “give him the best send-off ever.”

Her father was then buried on Friday at a lavish burial service attended by the singer’s friends and family. Jamil, Tiwa’s son, was also present as people gathered to pay their respects to the departed. Salawa Abeni, a waka music legend, performed on the bandstand at the event, which was held at the Federal Place Hotel.
The reception was attended by Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, Rita Dominic, Ozinna, Toke Makinwa, Stephanie Coker & Olumide Aderinokun, Eniola Badmus, Adesua & Banky W, Don Jazzy, Taymesan, Iyanya, Ubi Franklin, Azuka Ogujiuba, and many other celebrities.
Cubana Chiefpriest, a celebrity bartender, attended Tiwa Savage’s father’s burial, along with other notable celebrities.
The flamboyant socialite made a point of recreating moments from Obi Cubana’s well-publicized funeral, showering bundles of N500 notes, Tiwa Music boss Don Jazzy and crossdresser Bobrisky were also sighted.
