Tesla is recalling almost 2 million vehicles in the U.S. due to safety concerns related to its Autopilot feature, following a two-year investigation into around 1,000 crashes involving the technology.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) found that the Autopilot system could give drivers a false sense of security, leading to potential misuse in certain risky situations.
The recall includes a software update that will provide more warnings to drivers when Autopilot’s “Autosteer” function is engaged, aiming to enhance driver attention and prevent accidents.
