Hyundai is revealing more information on the 2024 Kona EV after the initial design tease. Compared to before, the Kona offers a grown-up shape with a more confident design language. Lighting is dominated by two LED strips with lower main beams. The Kona is longer than the previous one too and is wider and taller.

Now for the powertrain. The Kona EV will remain FWD only and will come in Standard and Long Range options. The Standard uses a 48.4kWh battery pack with 154HP and 188 lb-ft of torque. The Long Range gets a 65.4 kWh battery and 215HP. The Long Range is expected to get 304 miles on the WLTP cycle.
The Kona Ev also can charge from 10-80% in 41min which is significantly slower than the more advanced 800v system in the Ioniq 5. The Kona EV also features an i-Pedal and a Smart regen system. It also features V2L capability. New standard features include battery pre-conditioning, a charging port designed to break through ice if frozen, and more.
When Hyundai released the Kona electric in 2018, it quickly became a hit among automotive journalists and consumers alike.

The best-in-class EV featured 258 miles range at an attractive sub $40,000 price. However, the Kona electric has faced stiff competition since its debut with EVs such as the Chevy Bolt (259-mile range) and the Tesla Model Y (over 300 miles range) hitting the market.
Although the subcompact SUV was redesigned in 2021 for the 2022 model year, it still resembled a conventional ICE vehicle appearance that was fitted for an electric vehicle.
