The story was shared on Facebook by the Nigerian Human Rights Activist, Atanda Olatunji. In the video, the tenant explains that his landlord wanted to evict him because his cars occupy the whole space in the compound.
He explained that the cars are for business purposes, as he hires them for Uber or Bolt services. In the story he says:
“My landlord wants to evict me because I have 3 cars. He said that I have occupied the whole space in the compound. But these cars are used for my Business, cos I hire it out to guys using it for Uber and they come to pick it up in the morning and return it in the Night. What can I do?”

Here are some reactions to the post:
@David Elaigwu Abah commented: “But the house you rented is for residential purpose not commercial so packing 3 cars especially when there is limited space for others to pack is wrong. If you have three cars then your business is due to have an office where you can park them.”
@Adebisi Ademola commented: “The only issue here is if the landlord stays in the same compound and others are secretly complaining of the parking lot not equitably shared cos you are parking beyond the available space for you or probably you block others movement space.”
@Uzor Austin Chinonso commented: “3 cars is too much. Assuming there are 4 tenants in the compound and each has 3 cars where will they park?”
@Chukwuma Victor A Commented: “Since is business cars, find a business garage to be packinf them. Your landlord is not against your progress, rather you are the one disrupting the peace of the yard.”
Should You Park Your Car Inside Your Compound?
The recent eviction of a Nigerian man, Albert Ikechukwu, begs the question: should you park more than one car inside your compound? While parking cars inside your residential compound as a tenant is not bad, it becomes inconvenient when other tenants in the house also need a space to park their cars.
Amid this controversy, one main thing that stands out is the importance of establishing a firm rule with tenants. Establishing these firm rules will help you strike a balance between accommodating the needs of all tenants, ensuring that all tenants get an equal parking space, and ensuring a peaceful co-existence among those living in the house.
